Why are you worried about stunted growth? How big is the cage?

BTW, size doesn't matter, especially in captivity. Small males or females will breed as effectively as larger.

The answer is likely no, it will not stunt growth. I base that on the following experience - I had a clutch of Cal kings, and two individuals would not eat after hatching and didn't eat until the following March. Both grew up to be huge adults eventually, and the female after 5 years is bigger than her sister that fed from the start.
