I don't see that you have anything to worry about except that you should provide a small container with moist sphagnum, paper towels or a sponge so that the snake can retreat to this to avoid dehydration. Baby milks are susceptible to dehydration and I have had a few who refused food and/or regurged until I gave them a "humidity box."
My pueblans love aspen and other burrowing substrates and preferred them to hides. As they are older, I switched to newspaper, and they burrow under that too rather than use their hides (most of the time).
My first milk was a pueblan about the same size as yours. She has been a voracious eater almost constantly and at 18 months old she's around 30" long and bigger around than my thumb.
