>>This is my first season breeding ball pythons, and I have a question about the pre lay shed. I have two females that I believe are gravid. I saw the ovulation swell in the first one, and then about a month or so later I saw it in the second one. The first female has been steadily gaining weight since then, despite not having a meal since late fall. She is notably swollen in the lower half of her body. The second female is beginning to show the same weight gain and swelling. The first female shed today (first time in a couple months). I am assuming this is the pre lay shed. What's the normal amount of time after the shed before egg deposition?

Hey Jason,it is supposed to be around 28 days, but it does take longer sometimes(I suspect it could be temperature related, similar to egg incubation.)
Here is a good site to look over.
