USPS isn't supposed to ship animals.

When I asked a local Post Office about shipping geckos through USPS they said that the policy is they do not ship reptiles.



I'm not sure why the woman you spoke to allowed you to ship the little guys as the one near me is against it completely.



Sorry to hear about the loss. I lost one through shipping too once.
