I thought i lost my snake. Today i went to the petstore, and bought both a pinkie and a clawed frog (since i read some owners had sucess with these guys). Its been around 60 days since he ate, but i said today will be the day. I put him in a bucket with a heat lamp over it and tossed in the scented pinkie, and the frog. Within a few minutes, he attacked the frog from behind, and starting chewing on the clawed frog. The frog started breaking free, and the snake curcled around him, then somehow grabbed himself, and started chewing on its back, and the frog hopped away. The snake was then covered in blood (most likely of the frog), and struggling to unhinge its jaws from his skin. Then for the next 5 minutes, his mouth was wide open, and spewing this thick clear goey fluid, and bubbles came from his throats. His muscles were tensed, and soon he did not move at all, so i quickly cleaned him with warm water, and cleaned his mouth of the fluid, after several minutes, he started flicking out his tongue weakly, and started moving around. However his jaw looked stretched or broken. Finally after 30 minutes, the jaw returned to its normal state, but all he did for next hour, was streetch our his jaws. Now he is back to his grumpy lively state. Could anybody explain this?!! I first thought maybe is was some reaction to the african clawed frog's skin, or maybe since he hasnt ate in so long, his glands are dormant?
It was good to see him interested in something, but sad to see him almost die.
