We do need to address these devastating impacts. Collection and captive propagation is a great way to preserve these gene pools in captivity. When we finally figure out a way to kill off the fire ants we will have localized genetic material for re-introduction. If we stop collection then all the turtles will be killed by fire ants. If we allow collection and even promote it these gene pools will be preserved in captivity. | ||
