Seriously, we purchased these 3 (2 females one male) to start another harem.
So since they are breeders not feeders, I let the ladies pick out the mice. "Cinnamon", "Retread" & "Calico"
Look close, that is Ritz crackers in there. I have found mini wheats, granola bars & my smoked almonds in the mouse cages!
Dorothy & Samantha both watch live feedings, and have no issues.
Neither hesitates to thwack mice over the head either. Heck one time Dorothy beat a mouse over the head with vice grips!
Now my son Brendan on the other hand once painted the adult mice with fingernail polish! When I asked him why, he said... "finger nail polish is poison, and I know you won't feed them to the snakes with nail polish on them"
That's when I moved the mouse ranch to a locked room.
In closing, I have learned so much about mice and I can say this, if most humans would rear their young with as much care as these rodents do, the world would be a better place.
Every single mouse in each harem assists with rearing the young, I have seen hoppers rounding up sibling pinkies and fuzzies for mom. All the females share the milk, and the proud dad stays in shape by running on the exercise wheel all day.
   Peace, Wayne A. Harvey
