40 degrees is the ideal temp. With a small fridge you'd have to open it regularly so that they don't suffocate, which is why I hibernate mine in the vegetable bin of my refrigerator. Last year both of my Russians hibernated outside on their own for about 5 months.



The only time I've taken a tortoise to the vet was to have his beak trimmed & it cost $35. There's only one qualified reptile vet in the Birmingham area, so finding one might be a problem depending on where you live.
