westerns you must have a protected species permit from the DNR
below is a link to the dangerous animals act which covers venomous, and from the way its written crocs and large snakes
http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=1944&ChapAct=720 ILCS 585/&ChapterID=53&ChapterName=CRIMINAL OFFENSES&ActName=Illinois Dangerous Animals Act
heres a link to all the info youll need about protected/threatened species
http://dnr.state.il.us/espb/
also you should know IL automatically adopts Federal threatened list , in other words if its on the federal list, say a Tiger and you bring it to IL you must have a permit from IL to possess the tiger even though its not native
IL is big on compliance if I was you Id contact the DNR and start working on getting your permits prior to moving here, if your caught in the state with them and dont have the proper paperwork youll get in trouble, best of luck to you. ----- One day I'll dance on your grave
