Some snakes have special requirements that are difficult for a novice keeper to provide and can lead to the animal's suffering, the keeper's frustration and the eventual loss of the animal. Of the species listed, I would say the rubber boa is probably best for a beginner, followed by the pit, then hognose and finally the egg-eater. Talk to people on the forums, call breeders and other hobbyists and spend some time at reptile shows before making your decision. [ Hide Replies ]
