As for planting a lizard garden, we've had one for two years now. If you go to a plant store, many of them have sprouts of tasty greens. Now, if you were on top of your game, you would actually plant bok choy in fall, they survive a DC winter very easily even with alot of freezing rain and snow, and come spring, all your stalks will be in bloom. Keep in mind that lettus doesn't like really hot summers, so planting in the early spring and fall is a great way to not have to water too much.
