There are also several threads within the few pages of this forum with plenty of good info. Take a few minutes to scroll through them.

The secret to getting rid of mites is the same as getting rid of fleas, you have to break their life cycle.

And, no, I wouldn't use any kind of puppy or kitten shampoo.

Give it a water bowl/container large enough for it to submerge in and it will take care of a lot of it itself.
