Question on melanistic garters

Since I was admiring Jeff's new melanistic wandering garter below, I had a question in regards with melanistic easterns compared to melanistic wandering garters.

Are easters just as glossy jet black as the wandering garters? Scott keeps both so if he sees this he can chime in. I know the easterns have a patch of white under the chin, & their scales are more keeled, but was curious how deep a glossy black easterns were, compared to wanderings? Thanks
