The impression I got was that they were trying to do some sort of damage control or back pedalling, but none of it made sense. What this Reed guy was saying did not jive with the original report. What really bothered me is that the original USGS report CREATED the hysteria, now the USGS is blaming the media and the public for "misinterpreting" the research?? Weren't there two range maps, one for TODAY and one for 100 years into the future???

And seems like the burms are getting larger and larger with every article. Now they can grow up to 30 feet long?!?!

These guys are out of control and need to be stopped. They are civil servants who work for us!

>>It's nice to see something on this side on the issue finally hit the press, though it's inaccuracies shadow the article. Funny that USGS Reed is the one making these comments. I wasn't at any of the press interviews but the way Rodda was presented seemed fairly clear that he felt an invasion was just around the corner. The news release on the USGS webpage implied the same (though it placed Burms in Indian Python territory).
