I actually think aspen is better. reptibark seems to dry out and get dusty. One thing I usually do with my screen tops is cover half the screen. I will also use a dome light with a low wattage bulb to allow viewing. No fun to have a tank too dark to see into. With an under tank heater, a nice sized water bowl, and half the screen top covered I doubt you will have trouble with shedding. If conditions are correct corns shed perfectly every time. Bad sheds are definitely not a "corn snake thing"....LOL
