I have not yet quite decided, probably hardware cloth with an upper barrier made from a strip of plexiglass or roof flashing. That would be for the panic runs of the smaller uro, in case it were to happen.
I have to construct something that is easy to remove so I can remove snow during the winter. The lizards do like being able to look over the edge of the deck to watch my chickens forage. My deck isn't huge maybe 10X15 but enough to make you think about something durable, safe and easy to remove.
My fat boy pictured is reliable, he will just mosey under one of his boards if a hawk floats by. Sometimes he will come to me if I am out there if something scares him. He also ask's to go indoors when he is done hanging out. He knows where the door is and will claw at it to go inside. The chickadees, finches and bluejays and other birds coming on the deck do not faze him. He does not faze them either. One of these days I'll get a picture of him with them.
I suspect he's much mellower because he is an adult and knows he's a big boy. He's about ten years old and probably a wild caught. I am at least his second owner, he came to me as a shrivelled up and sad carcass.
The empty plant pots will get some edible stuff planted for the 'kids' to snack on and they also help them feel secure.
