I didn't just go by the "organic" label, I checked through the ingredients. I've used it in my other terrariums with no problems, although if I was keeping amphibians, I probably wouldn't use it.
The substrate doesn't stay soggy, just a little damp. I watch the humidity carefully in all my tanks. The two cornsnakes that I just converted to natural terrariums have had histories of bad sheds, so I believe a *little* moisture may help them. (They were previously ONLY on cypress mulch :P ) In the other tanks I have, the burrowing snake actually helps keep the soil from getting soggy, airating it naturally. ----- Holly
