feeding my ribbon

I'm kind of confused about feeding my ribbon. I recently bought him (or her) from a pet store and they told me to feed him 1 feeder fish about and inch long. I didn't think that that was enough so I fed him 2. About a day after I feed him, he seems like he's looking for more food. I don't know if I should give him more or not. Can snakes over eat or do they know when to stop if I'd put more in? How do I know when to start feeding him more? Please help.
