Hi Eve - and any one who might remember me - it's been a looooooooooonnnnnnnngggggg time!!!! I'm still around, just don't do forums much anymore, Eve I'll have to update you on Cyrus and Darwin sometime, but for now I need some blotchie/general tail loss advice.



For those who don't know (most don't) side-blotched lizards are about the size of house geckos and easily as fast. My Stan has a beautiful blue tail, especially when he is a'courtin his girl Ana and I often have to separate them (poor girl has ti bury herself in the sand to get away! Well, for the first time we had an accident and Stan's tail broke. I used silvadine and made a little Band-Aid out of toilet paper and kept him in a plain enclosure (they live in sand) and all seemed well then yesterday I just used betadine and I guess b/c it was dry it was more brittle and when I got home today it was broken off I am so bummed. I do not know if blotchies regenerate their tails or not.



SO, my question is this - should I leave it alone and just let the air do it's thing, or use silvadine for a few days or use betadine? I don't know if keeping it moist with the ointment is best. I cannot reach ANY vet so I turn to you. I figure Eve, and/or others have surely had this experience with their lizards. I will of course keep him out of any sand until he is completely healed and will go to the three blotchie experts to find out about tail regeneration.
