RE: cypress mulch

I started using this year for my pine snakes, which like to burrow. I like it very much and my pine snakes like it too. Cypress purchased for landscaping has a very strong odor, so I would not go that route. I did find some dried, compacted cypress mulch in a cube at a hardware store. I added a bit of water and gradually broke apart the cube - it wasn't too strong of a smell (in my opinion) to put directly into my pine snake cages.



There are several sellers of reptile products that carry cypress that is "ready to use" for reptiles. You can find them by doing a google search for "cypress snake bedding."
