. Vacations and travel are not authorized. Seriously, I leave everything on when I go away. My heaters are set so that they are not using a lot of power and are not getting dangerously hot. They are somewhat double protected from malfunction because they are controlled with thermostats AND rheostats. If a rheostat was to fail and apply full power the thrermostat would turn it off periodicly when the temps got too hot and if a thermostat failed in the power on mode the rheostat is set so that the heaters would not get too hot. I do not use any sort of misting devices. I have good luck keeping humidity high by limiting ventilation so that the humidity does not quickly escape from the cages. This is a low maintenance method of maintaining humidity. Adult BRBs will be okay with low humidity for awhile. Perhaps a week or ten days is okay. A little BRB can dehydrate and die in just a few days in a heated cage with very low humidity.
