Hello, I'm new to the forum. I joined so I could check out other people's ideas for ter/vivariums for nonaquatic frogs. I've been working on my White's habitat for a few years now.



So far, the habitat includes:



Lighting

- Zilla full spectrum 24" tropical reptile bulb

- Zilla 50w infared heat lamp



Thermometers/Hygrometers

- Exo-Terra digital hygro/thermometer (top left)

- Exo-Terra analog hygro/thermometer (bottom right)

- Exo-Terra analog thermometer (top right)



Others

- 2x GE digital timers for lights and foggers

- 2x Exo-Terra Ultrasonic Fogger

- Live bansai tree

- Live dwarf palm

- Live shefflera

- Live moss

- 12lbs bicolor african driftwood

- 50 lbs assorted rocks

- 10 lbs peat moss/sphagnum moss



Specs

- Temp ranges from 78 degrees at night to 84 degrees in the day time.



- Humidity stays around 90% at the bottom of the tank and 85% at the top.



- I lightly mist the tank once a day for the benefit of the plants and moss and change his water dish by flushing the old water about once every 3 days, and allowing the peat moss where the plants are rooted to absorb the dirty water.



- I have syphoned the standing water from the bottom of the rockbed a few times when it got over the bottom lip of the aquarium, but since I cut back on use of the fog machine and starting misting less I haven't had to do that.



-I have the lights set on a 12 on/12 off timer and the foggers kick on for 15 mins twice a day (once right before the lights come on, once right before they go off). The infared stays on 24/7 in the winter due to a poorly insulated house, but goes on and off opposite of the full spectrum light in the warmer months.



-I've been slowly building this setup since I got my White's, and it's hard to believe it all started out as a 10gal for somebody else's unwanted pet. Budah, my White's is a 3 1/2" long adult male who dines exclusively on dusted/gut loaded crickets.



The best part about this enclosure is that it started out as a terrarium project with some houseplants I cloned and a bansai tree my cousin gave me. I was keeping Budah in a seperate enclosure, and decided one day to let him have a romp in the terrerium. He had so much fun I let him stay and integrated his old enclosure's decor so it would feel more like home. Because the floor of the terrerium is a complicated system of layers of aquarium gravel, river stones and peat moss carpeted in sphagnum and living moss, the only cleanup required is to fishnet out his usually large and obvious poops and wipe the slime and water marks off the glass a few times a week. He is very healthy, and since I've owned him he's never had a single problem. I hardly ever handle him, which seems to be okay with him. When I do handle him, he is very calm and only jumps when he's ready to go back in his home.

If you have a White's or similar tree frog I'd love to hear from you and see what you've done for enclosures. I currently have a pile of unused standard 10gal tanks and professional type herp display case I bought when Petland remodeled that I'm looking for ideas for. I really like the idea of running water/water falls/rainforest themes and definatly live plants. I am interested in keeping PDF's RETF's and similar tropical tree-dwelling species. I also have a pair of ACF's (The Ying-Yang Twins) that live in a planted 20gal aquarium.
