Hi,

I've been a member for quite a while but I seldom post. I've never intended to intentionally breed my snakes, but recently, I took in some bulls that someone didn't want. When I came home from work last night, I found that one of them had laid an egg. It was obvious that she had just recently laid it because it was still very pliable and not at all dried out.

I immediately separated her from her companions and she's now in a very large sterilite container (one of the 3 ft long ones). I've provided her with a smaller plastic container (lined with towels & damp paper towels on top of that. It was all I had available last night.

It's now been 24 hours since she laid the egg and I can see that she has at least 5 more lumps. One is about a half inch up from her vent and it's been that way since last night.

One of the things that's always kept me from wanting to breed snakes is the fear of egg binding.

Before posting, I did search this forum & it seems the consensus is to give a bullsnake substantial time to pass the eggs on her own.

So, just how long is normal for a bull to pass her eggs? I am a worry wart by nature and the fact that it's been 24 hours since the first egg is a little disconcerting. I do feel better after reading the other threads to just leave the snake alone and that she may pass the eggs on her own even weeks from now.

But at what point should I start to panic? I'm not worried as of yet, although I'd be greatly relieved if she'd just lay the darned eggs. She doesn't appear to be in any sort of distress. When I've gone to check on her, she's just been curled up in one place or another.

Thanks for your advice. I'm starting to find snake egg-laying to be rather nerve wracking.
