The short answer is that I'm not sure... the longer answer is... I got my breeders about 8 years ago or so from a guy in Des Moines named Mark Rouw. They were hatchlings at the time and the clutch was extremely varied in color. I think he said the strain originated in Kansas, but it may have been Colorado. I don't think that he routinely monitors this forum, but John Meltzer probably knows the story (he may even have been involved some how) and/or Paul Hollander might know as well.
