Got a call from my herp society that someone had a "HUGE rattle snake" in their yard, so off to the rescue I go! When I get there, the folks are certainly friendly enough, but not up on their AZ snake ID's, because in their yard was this healthy guy:



Look at that lump! He must have just eaten a squirrel or a rabbit coming off the golf course next to the house.

Here he is next to an 18 inch hook:


But the 40 inch hook gives you a better idea of his length, which I believe is around 6 1/2 feet:
