That is very cool that you get to visit there on a bit of a regular basis, culturally as well as herp wise. . That was really fascinating to see that the rural folks may be a little more tolerant with snakes. We'll look forward to the unabridged version of the field herping. . . One of my many classic stupid things I did in my youth was to capture a pair of Red-necked Keelbacks (Rhabdophis subminiatus) and handle them bare handed without restriction, like a Corn. I had no idea of their toxicity. It was actually safer, since if you hold them by the head or neck, they are masters at working the "rear fangs" back toward your fingers! . Oh, and, yeah, I was tied up, out of internet contact for a month and then we went camping/trout fishing in the mountains in central Colorado for 3 weeks. - Thanks for asking...
