The russian rat is an excellent snake for captivity. They're about as big as a north american rat. They're diurnal and alert for most of the year. They tend to be good feeders (there are of course always exceptions). Many are good about being handled and not particularly skittish. Relatively easy to breed.

Finding them is hit or miss. I no longer have a breeding pair.
Possibly they'll pop up on the classifieds soon. Price is what you'll pay. Figure 50 - 100 each. Good luck
