This is no surprise-it was only a matter of time. I doubt it can be stopped.
We as hobbyists/breeders need to get much more organized. If a species is to remain in the hobby it will have to be bred on a sustainable basis. This means paying more than lip service to concepts like genetic diversity and inbreeding depression. It can be done-the aviculturists have been working without imports for almost two decades now. I think every breeder should pick at least one species to "adopt"-not for profit, but just to keep a valuable animal going for future generations. ----- Brad Chambers
