This is awful to see. Apparently we hit them hard enough in our reaction to the FWS bill, so they decided to sidestep that route and go another direction. "Whitelisting" huh? There are far too many species out there for such a restrictive bill.



I agree with the suggestion about "adopting" a species for future generations. We need to start working on cracking the breeding code for a lot of obscure boas and pythons - and like it's been said, we need to start paying attention to genetic diversity. I'd love to see people get as organized as the chondro folks, that have pedigrees going back 30 years!



Another idea to consider is breeding loans and "guilds" for particular species. If we could get groups of people working together instead of constantly competing for profit, maybe we could get good captive populations of some of the rarer species before it's too late.
