Snake found in box of bananas.

Someone on a different forum found this snake in a box of bananas shipped from the Dominican Republic and asked if I knew what it was. Well, I'm kind of stumped. I'm guessing Epicrates striatus striatus or possibly a different subspecies. Also, since the guy can't release it, is it primarily a rodent eater? Thanks for any and all help!
