I never said it couldn't happen, just that it seemed unlikely the majority of the time. Animals do not *usually* tear pieces of their own bodies off. Anyway, I'm not sure what disposable cage liners are exactly, but they sound similar to paper towels, so our recommendations seem to agree in concept at least.
