I've got a pair of young (born summer of 02) Cape gophers that were eating fine up until several weeks ago. The female shed about that time, so I attributed her lack of appetite to that, but since her shed still doesn't eat. The male stopped eating the same time...okay, so I'm thinking it's something environmental. Check the temps. in their enclosures (70's at night, low to mid 80's day), check humidity (20 to 30%). I've tried offering them f/t mouse fuzzies (which they perviously ate), rat pinks, live, brained, isolation in feeding enclosures overnight, food in their cages overnight, etc. My snakes of other species are eating me out of house and home, shedding, growing, etc. but these two are stumping me. I know Capes don't like too hot of conditions, but I even tried warming them up a few degrees with no success. They aren't wasting away at this point, but I'd sure like to resolve this delema before they do. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
