In 2001 and 2002 I imported quite a few sq. tail boas from Germany (albino Boas.com). In 02 I was looking for some Kubsch Pastels, Siegi and Frank had purchased 3 yearling pairs at a show in Germany and were nice enough to export one of the yearling pairs to me when I did the 02 import of the sq.tail babies. So this girl pictured is about 7 years old. She is a real sweetheart, but I just never got around to breeding her (what a waste, right?). Her brother is more purple and very fine also. These pictures were taken indoors with a flash and when I have time I will take outdoor pics of the male as I think he needs outdoor light to get the full impact.
I am going to breed this girl this season, but not sure if I will use her brother or outcross to something like an albino kahl or sharp. I would like to make more Kubsch, but I think I would have an uphill battle convincing potential buyers of the value and origin of these. I do have the CITIES papers that show the import however.
There is speculation that the Kubsch and the Sq.Tail boas are related. This may be and I don't really have an opinion on this. I do however have some absolute knee knocking adult Sq. Tails and the color is just different. I hope I have time soon to post good pictures of the Kubsch and a good Sq.Tail together to see what the camera shows. I am also going to email Seigi and see if he has anything to add.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.
