These snakes are nocturnal and secretive and are probably stressed by bright light. If you use no external light on their cage and the room is not too bright the snake is much more likely to be out of hiding moving about the cage during daytime hours. Watch what your snake does to get an idea whether it likes warmer or cooler temperatures or more or less light. It will tell you what it wants. Rather than use a light to heat the cage use an undertank heating pad controlled with a proportional thermostat. You can use a simple dimmer rather than an expensive thermostat if the room temperature is stable. If your house stays a little warmer than 72 to 75 during the day you do not need any heat extra heat on the cage during the day. [ Hide Replies ]
