You have 2 hypos and 2 normals. As the base pigment of a ball python is so variable that means that the color of hypos must be variable as the hypo gene is based on the removal of the black pigment. Some balls have a ton of black (more orange colored hypo) while some are much much brown (more yellow colored hypo).

There really are no "phases" it is just marketing to call them orange or butterscotch. When they all first came in from Africa they were just called "ghost" or "hypo" and they were varied in color.

All the breeders started their lines with those African babies: Bell, NERD, BHB, etc. I have bred Bell x BHB, Bell & BHB x African and many other combos over the years and have produced many clutches of great looking hypo babies some orange, yellow, green, etc. And don't forget, the color of the baby out of the egg is not the color they will be as an adult either.
