"There really are no "phases" it is just marketing to call them orange or butterscotch. When they all first came in from Africa they were just called "ghost" or "hypo" and they were varied in color."

Not entirely true, when my two Ghost lines were named I did it based on their color "specific" to that animal. At the time NO ONE had photos of Ghost and the imported hatchlings had to be raised and bred to prove what they were. My original "the first Butterscotch Ghost" I named based on its color. When placed next to my Yellow Ghost they were considerably different in appearance and color. The Yellow Ghost also had more contrast while the Butterscotch was more subtle "not as dark of a background". The enclosed photo is the first Butterscotch Royal Python Ghost which I purchased as an import back around 1992 or 1993. Marketing was not involved, it was merely new lines established based on color. I was collecting odd looking Royal Pythons and at that time, breeding for profit was not my goal. Hard to believe with such a market as Royal Pythons have become, but true.
