there are some good ideas there i really like the soda can one and the flower one.
here is something i though of and this is just a "theory" of a way to possibly make a snake trap. if it came down to it this might help if you were not around to hear the soda can alarm
lets say you use one of those big rubbermaid tubs with a latched lid. what i am thinking cut a hole or two and put a water dish in there along with a rat. now the idea is to cut the hole a tad smaller than the snake or a bit smaller than the rat, and in theory said snake enters tub, consumes prey and is to big to exit... then again with a full belly water and maybe even a warm spot why would he even want to lol right?
so again that is just a theory. i think years ago i say a sho on the DSC channel where a village in south america did that, they set a pig surrounded by posts that where set just the right distance apart. i remember thinking to myself if that would really work, and the more i think about it the more i think it could...
