Another trap idea I've heard about was to tie a long thread around a frozen/thawed prey item and the other end around a heavy item (such as furniture) in the room where you think the snake is. The snake feeds on the prey but can't escape because the thread keeps it tied to the area. The thread can be cut when you find the snake and the small amount of thread left inside will supposedly be extruded with the feces.
