There's been some conflicting info posted lately about the Sharp strains so I took the opportunity to ask Brian, in person at Daytona what happened with the offspring of the very first breeding.
That breeding was the original Sharp albino animal paired with a het for Kahl albino to see if the genes were compatible. Obviously they weren't and this is what happened with the babies which were het Sharp albino, 50% possible het Kahl albino.
Approximately 17 babies were born and the males were distributed as normals into the pet trade. The females were held back by Brian and bred to produce additional Sharps for the future.
So the possibility DEFINITELY exists that there are Sharp hets, albinos, and sunglows that are also het for Kahl strain out there (if it's genetically possible). The chances are low as the held back females only have a 50% chance of being het Kahl, but they are real.
Just thought I'd share. Thanks!
