There's actually some current debate over the validity of the subspecies hondurensis - some researchers claim them (and the other Pacific Central American triangulum) to be polyzona. You're correct in noting the broken snout band as a diagonstic feature of polyzona, but it also shows up in wild hondurensis. Porras and Barczyk claim to have settled the issue and that the original animals labled as polyzona in Europe were hatched from a clutch of hondurensis.
