Well, although I probably shouldn't say this...a lot will get by in Georgia (and elsewhere). Nobody is going to spend money and effort to arrest an innocuous little snake owner, so as long as you don't talk about it all over town, you will probably escape legal notice. 'Course, you might also end up in court...it's up to you to take the risk.

Ethically I think keeping the snake would be the right thing to do, as long as the snake didn't escape into the local wild population. Be discreet and careful with your pets, and you shouldn't really have any more trouble than a jaywalker avoiding a traffic violation.
