Well to be honest Medusah must not own any het pieds. The true 100% het pieds I have ALL from well known reliable breeders have perfect markers!! There is no question about the marker being present. The clutch of 50% het pieds I have right now from het to normal breeding have 2 that show great markers and 2 that look perfectly normal. I know which ones I would buy!!!!



I have heard of a few without markers producing pieds but that is much less common. Frankly, I would not even own a het pied that lacked it. It is a good selling point and it also is carried in the het offspring. VERY handy when breeding het to het. I would never call a 50% poss het a full het none the less no matter what kind of marker it had. Just too many variables.



That and the fact that I have 0.4 normal (pastel and mojave sibs) that show a nice "het pied" marker. SO IT IS certainly not fool proof, JUST A Guide to go by. There is almost ZERO chance that they are het pied.



As far as other dom/rec genes go. It is in the eye of the beholder. Most of my het ghosts are ODD but nothing definate about them. I keep mostly the orange/butterscotch types and the hets are at least really pretty and have a lot of orange. I certainly would not define them as such!! I think that is line breeding for simply the best colored ghosts available. SIMPLE as that.



The het clowns I have seen in person show some interesting color traits but not much more than that. Whether there is more to it I would have to personally own them and know what to look for. Even that could vary from one line to the next.



Some people swear that het g stripes are usually black back but I do not think it defines the het. Certainly does seem more common in the het g stripes. NONE of my hets are black backs yet I know that some are het none the less.
