Those checkering colors are very typical of amels. They can fade, and lighten up somewhat as it ages though. Since "Sunglows" are simply a refined, line-bred amel, and it is only het for motley as well, it would be absolutely understandable that it has those typical checkers on the belly.

Some lines of "Sunglow" involve hypomelanism as well, and some don't, so it can be confusing as to which type you actually have.

BTW,..that is an EXCEPTIONALLY rich colored amel!...those deep red saddles are awesome!....from the given breeding, you got exactly what would be expected, but that deep, rich red is a definite bonus!
