GA is pretty strict on its native species ownership laws. If it lives outside in GA, you cant have it in your house as a pet. That's it. There are permits, but they're really hard to obtain and they're pretty expensive to keep up IMO. They have some really wacky laws on animals in general. You cant have an intact ferret older than 7 months of age, it somehow morphs into a "wild animal", but you can have a skunk in any color other than black with no permit. Ferrets are domestic, skunks are not. I spent a good deal of time talking with the DNR and working on getting permits for the ferretry, but in the end it was easier to move so that's exactly what I did. ----- Julie
