Many of you know me, some of you don't --- My daughter, Lexie (born dec. 13, 2006) will be having surgery Monday (22nd) to remove a tumor in her head.
The tumor goes from about 2cm in her brain cavity, down behind her eye and is wrapped up in her orbit, goes down and is pushing her teeth out in odd order and different directions (she had 2 year old molars at 8 months old), it also goes down around her ear canal/ear drum. The dr.s cannot determine if she is going to be permanently deaf in that ear, of if removing the tumor will take the pressure off.

The surgery starts at 7:30 monday morning, our check in time is 6am.
They are going to cut her ear to ear over the top of her head, and from the inside corner of her eye, down the side of her nose to her lip.

They are removing her eye socket, upper and lower jaws, and the joint connecting the 2.
They are going to do a bone graft from the base of her skull to re build the facial bones.

The surgery is expected to last 8 hours, and we will be unable to see her for about 10 hours (with recovery time, etc).

My daugher also has a heart defect, hypoplastic left heart syndrome (hlhs)-- she has no left ventricle in her heart. We have had 2 open heart surgeries in the last year and a half to begin reconstructing her heart, and will have one more heart surgery in about a year. So we are not new to the surgery waiting room but it is still hard... this is our longest and biggest surgery yet.

If you have any wishes, energy, prayers or hugs for my daughter (or me)it is greatly appriciated!

~Beth
