all you need is a single FROZEN toad to scent all year for all the babies you can produce and all the adults that need scenting.
If you don't want to kill a Toad, fine, just wait until it rains and go pick your choice of the 100's run over and DOR on the road.
Find a small tupperware that is freezer safe, add a tad of water, and forget about it until you need it.
I use about one toad and one lizard all year long, that's it. It's not a hassle, unless you consider feeding your snakes a hassle.
