Widdo Kenabec went back to his breeder yesterday as he, Kenabec, has only eaten once (f/t) for me and has not eaten in three weeks. So Jodi will recondition Kenabec with live pinkies and then transition him on to f/t again. Kenabec may be gone as long as two months.
I went to TCR (Twin Cities Reptiles) last week to get a live pinkie for Kenabec and freaked out. Man, I can handle f/t like everyone else, but I can't deal with live. Yeah. A wuss. Can't help it. I love all creatures and while my brain can deal with the food chain, my heart can't. The wee mousies were SO CUTE and SWEET! I just couldn't do it so got in touch with Jodi.
Niizh, my green pride and joy and love of my live, on the other hand is a pigglette of good Hoggy proportions and Jodi was very pleased to see how Niizh is coming along. Niizh has now not eaten in a week and I'm hopeful for a shed. No overt signs yet but possibly a bit duller. Can't wait until he does shed as it will be the first for my baby since he's been with me and as a good momma I will keep it!
I've first dibs on greens and yellows (should there be any of each) in next year's hatch. Once can never have too many Hoggies nor have too much green in their life! Niizh' mom was a yellow. (Kenabec and Niizh have the same daddy, but different moms - 1/2 bros.)
Yesterday at TCR I got Niizh a Selaginella apoda, Meadow Moss, for his tank. I just love mosses. I left it in the pot and hid the pot behind the big bow in the mopani log so I can't see the pot. The moss comes up and over the log and looks so good and natural! It really brightens the tank with dark green and a different texture, where heretofore the tank had been all brown and wood texture. Niizh seems to like it somewhat but I still think he has to get used to it. *I* love it and even more like staring and watching Niizh and his tank.
So now Niizh has his 'sauna' (take-your-lunch-to-work-thingy, stuffed with wet moss, flipped up-side-down on its lid, and a door cut into the container) over the warm spot and his soft, cuddly, slightly most, snuggly fern in the cooler end.
