>>The snake pictured is a 4 yr old female that is about 3.5 ft in length, she produced five big eggs this season. I agree she does look small in that photo. I like the gray color of the ones you have.
Ahhh, interesting regards the size, I have had females of that age and size that had fully lost their neonate patterning. The silver female pictured was around 4.5-5ft, as were most of my collection. Unfortunately none of the offspring were ever retained, so I have no knowledge of whether or not it was an inheritable trait, although I suspect that it isn't that common an event. In those times, I knew few people who would have been interested in scalaris so I generally didn't attempt breeding at all. I have none of her line and no more 'silver' examples of this species in my collection anymore, mores the pity!
Congrats once again John, many thanks for the answers. I love scalaris above all other animals, in case you were wondering! LOL.
Oh, have you ever experienced a double clutch? I had one this season and its the first in all the time I have kept them that I know of. The female wasn't reintroduced to the male after laying so it will be interesting to see the fertility of the resultant 10 eggs. Previous post and account of laying/hatching
