Whether you are going to breed your axanthic male to a normal female or, even better, a het female, I would think that you'd want to choose one with a lot of light/dark contrast in the hopes that that trait is carried through eventually to produce really black and white babies. I'd look at the pattern of the female as well and imagine that on the babies. Personally, I'd go for one that is banded--probably won't be predictably genetic, but could have a neat influence.
