i have a pair of hatchling cave dwellers that i believe are closely related to the beauties. they are my first rats,if you don't count ones i caught and kept as a kid a couple decades ago :0) so i don't have a whole lot of experience with rats. but i'll share my 2 cents.

everything i have read goes along with the prior posting that they prefer lower temps. i have mine in a room that is in the low 70's with a uth in the mid 80's on one end. that way they have a wide range of temps to self regulate. i've only had them a month and a half and they have doubled in size aleady. that said they seem to just about always stay on the low side but i like for them to have the choice.

sorry to hear about the loss. that is always a serious bummer. i hope that you get you setup dialed in and keep with it. don't give up. raising and keeping snakes is an awsome thing. take care....
